Thunderbird does not recognize existing network profile after upgrade
Thunderbird was automatically upgraded to version 102.6.0 recently and when I start Thunderbird, it doesn't recognize the existing network profile location. When Thunderbird comes up, it wants to set up a new e-mail account instead of opening the existing e-mail account. The existing network profile worked in the last version. I went into the troubleshooting section and selected the profile location and opened it. It points to the correct network location. Not sure why it doesn't recognize the existing profile. Please help.

Hello
can you launch Thunderbird with the -profileManager command line switch and see if you can select your proper profile ?
I launched Thunderbird and selected the profile manager in the Help/More Help section. It showed that Thunderbird was pointing to the correct profile and that profile was the default profile. I believe this has happened to me with my Thunderbird account a few months ago. I ended up having to copy my address book and local folders to the new profile that was created for me. After some tweaking, I was able to return to some normality. Does anyone know why this has happened?
Your last post don't bring much light. In your first post you said that you were in the new account step, while also you say that you access Help / More troubleshooting (I think) but normally this menu is not visible in the new account setup. Then you mix this with a past experience and it's not clear either. I can't say what is your current situation. Provide a screenshot of your profile directory, explain how you access this 'profile' and give a screenshot of it, else there is nothing to go on.
Sorry for the confusion. My original intent was to ascertain why the problem occurred in the first place. I had experienced it previously with my Thunderbird program right after an upgrade a few months back.
I partially resolved my existing problem by uninstalling Thunderbird and installing the latest version. I added the two e-mail accounts that were there previously and that worked fine, as it did before. The only problem now is my local folders are not there. I tried copying them to the Mail folder but somehow Thunderbird is not seeing them. I remember coming across a thread about restoring local folders. I haven't had time to pursue that yet.
Thank you for the help you gave. I did learn something about profiles that will help me in the future since the path to my profile can change based on where the hard drive is connected. Profiles will handle that for me now.
I wouldn't say my problem is solved yet but I'm still working on it as time permits.
