How can I change my email address in Thunderbird? My current address (very old sympatico server) is defective and I cannot respond to mail I receive. I want to create a different email address and delete the old.

You have to first establish the account with the mail provider, then add it to TB. Once it's working, remove the old account in Account Settings, Account Actions.

But you might first try adding your current Sympatico account as IMAP with these settings:

https://www.getmailspring.com/setup/access-sympatico-ca-via-imap-smtp

Use Manual config. in the account setup dialog.
