firefox 4 new UI isn't working and it looks like the old FF(no ff button and no select tab in the awesome bar)..
Hi, I just installed firefox 4.0b1 on windows xp and it looks like the old FF 3.6. Although I can choose the tab location, I still have the old File, Edit, View etc. toolbar with no "Firefox Button" and I do not have the option to select a tab on the Awesome bar.
This happened
Every time Firefox opened
== When I installed FF 4

You only see the Firefox button if the Menu Bar is hidden: View > Toolbars What feature do mean with: "I do not have the option to select a tab on the Awesome bar" ?
You can see the Firefox version at the top and the user agent at bottom of the "Help > About" window (Mac: Firefox > About Mozilla Firefox).
Thanks for the reply. I've hidden the menu bar, but the firefox button doesn't not show properly, as you can see from the picture. The select a tab button from the awesome bar is something you described here as "switch to tab": http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/beta/features/#feature-switch
That is how the "Firefox" button is supposed to look with the Tabs in that location. If you set "Tabs on top", that button will look a little more natural.
Keep in mind that you are using the first of many Beta versions, it is far from a finished product. There's maybe like 6 months of development yet, until Firefox 4.0 becomes a "release version" that fit for the average user.
I see. But it's not as displayed in the link I gave. The firefox button in at the top most position of the window, with the minimize and close buttons, and not one the same level as the tabs(even when setting tabs on to).
Look at some of the reviews below; the UI is different on every one. Is there a difference in the Win 7/Vista and XP UI? Who knows at this point. The UI in the first one looks like your UI in that it has the typical Windows Title Bar with the Min/Max/Close buttons on the Title Bar while the others do not have a Title Bar. Maybe there is something unique to XP that forces the UI to have a Title Bar. If you place the tabs on top, does the Firefox button appear on the left end of the same bar with the tabs?
For the "switch-to-tab" feature, the second review, third paragraph says: Another addition is a feature dubbed “switch-to-tab.” ~~red:If you start typing the title of one of your open tabs in the URL bar~~, it will let you quickly switch to that tab.

As the-edmeister indicated, a lot can change before the final release of Firefox 4.
Yes. The Firefox button is on the left of the tabs bar when I choose tab on top.
The new interface is not enabled by default for Windows XP. However, you can enable it by doing the following: Go to View -> Toolbar -> Un-Check (un-tick) Menu Bar. Also, Tabs On Top option is enabled by default. If not enabled, check (tick) on Tabs on top option in the same menu.
To get the old classic menu, press Alt button on keyboard (Press Alt again to hide it).
