Yesterday I updated to Firefox 5.0. When I click on "Bookmarks" on the top toolbar the Bookmark window takes up about 75% of my screen. How do I change this so the Bookmark window is about 4 inches wide the way it used to be. Thanks.

That is probably because you have one or more bookmarks with a long title.
The width of a column in the Bookmarks menu list is in current Firefox versions automatically adjusted to fit the bookmark with the longest name.
You can check the names of the bookmarks and make the longer ones shorter.
