Tried this: 1- in Firefox type about:config in the address bar and press ENTER.

2- Search for keyword.url Locate and double-click the entry for keyword.URL

3- Modify it by adding your preferred value like this:

http://***/search?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=navclient&gfns=1&q=

4- in the above link instead of *** put the search engine address you like. Examples:

and with google, just returns this http://www.website-unavailable.com/main?wc=EWJvEgFmBRxGGxVyBRYAHQ%3D%3D&url=hm&w=1920&h=976&ifc=0 or something to that effect. "Open DNS" the page says.

If you got an OpenDNS page, there probably was a typo in the domain name, or the server was down temporarily. Can you mention which search site it is and a volunteer can test it out?

Im using this "https://www.google.com/webhp?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=navclient&gfns=1" exact adress in the about:config. The wierd part is some times when i write in the browser field, it will send me to google, but without actually searching for the question.

The keyword.URL value needs to end with the destination site's parameter for query terms. For Google that's

&q=

Then Firefox will fill in the query terms at the end. Does that work for you?

If you use DNS servers that automatically redirect you in case a DNS look up fails then Firefox won't notice that you want to do a search and in such a case it only works with multiple search terms or by using a (single character) keyword search.
