Open in App (Tumblr, YouTube, Google Maps...)
Firefox Android doesn't open content in app (if installed) but instead open a website. For example, when clicking on a button "Open in Tumblr", it takes you to the Google Play Store webpage for the Tumblr app, even though the Tumblr app is installed.
"Firefox is bypassing the default Android Way of Handling intents", I heard.
This question has already been asked here: Open google maps, youtube, video etc links with app instead of browser? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/970649 and here: Open links with an app https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/977330 and labeled as "Archived" or "Solved", but the problem is still there and nothing is solved at all in Firefox 29 for Android.
Worse: the "Chosen answer" from Juiceman77 (Dec 2013) stating that it will be available soon is completely false: This will be possible in Firefox 26 (Firefox Beta for Android) currently. Native handling works by adding an icon to the address-bar that opens the native application to handle the content should one prefer to do such. It should be available in Firefox Beta right now which you can get through the Google Play store.
When is this going to be fixed? It works perfectly in Chrome for Android.

We are a web browser. If the URL is available as a http resource we load it. If there is a helper app on the phone that correctly registers itself with the system we will display an android icon in the address bar. Tapping that will load the URL in the Android app. See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/977330#answer-501286 for details.
Well, I understand your point. However, you are a web browser, but on a smartphone; it is not expected to act like a desktop browser. There is no Android icon for Tumblr websites for example; is it really Tumblr that doesn't "register correctly"? It works fine in Chrome (which I don't want to use). So I understand that this will not be fixed?
I've put added a screenshot to this post...
In firefox you can long press the link and select OPEN IN APP... or ( as shown in my screenshot) you can simply click it then click the little android icon in the address bar once the page has opened and your requested page will now open in the android app instead.
