I use thunderbird 24.6.0 with Windows 8.1. I have McAffee Live Safe (there are many parts with many different version/build numbers for this one.) During a simple mail operation, like deleting 5 messages 1 at a time, Thunderbird hangs and displays Not Responding in the title bar of its active window.

Also, many times when I open the program, it spends a long time "checking server capability" and hangs up. I have to go to windows task manager to end the program.

Is this coming from thunderbird, from Windows or from McAfee? How can I correct it?
