Why did my bookmark folders go away in Firefox on 2 different PCs this week after Win7 update?
I have had my 200 or so bookmarks organized for years in about 20 folders without issue on multiple PCs. On December 10 after a Win7 update, the folders were missing on my frequently used PC. I was unable to find a menu or method after a support search or Google search. I then moved the bookmarks from a 2nd PC where the folders were still intact to the 1st PC with no improvement. The next day the 2nd PC lost its bookmark folders also. Nothing had been moved from 1st PC to 2nd, but they are on the same network.

hello sailor2099, are you able to restore the bookmarks through the automatic backups in the bookmarks library?
Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer
Thanks for responding. No, that did not fix it. I used a backup several days before the problem showed up and the replacement was successful as some trash bookmarks from 2nd PC copied to 1st PC disappeared. But still no folders. It's as if a preference is wrong.
Are you using Sync?
These can't get your data back, but will help in the future.
These add-ons can be a great help by backing up and restoring Firefox
FEBE (Firefox Environment Backup Extension) {web link} FEBE allows you to quickly and easily backup your Firefox extensions, history, passwords, and more. In fact, it goes beyond just backing up -- It will actually rebuild your saved files individually into installable .xpi files. It will also make backup of files that you choose.
