problem to cut/past into Thunderbird from other programs
I read hundreds of pages, BUT there is no direct solution how to do this!! What is wrong in the Thunderbird when you can't cut and past from other programs such as pictures, text etc. There is no solution to this problem to find anywhere. All other software I can do so but not into Thunderbird! I us newest Thunderbird and Firefox. halling51

To paste images into email messages you must be using HTML formatted messages. But you also mention issues with text.
I do occasionally see problems with copy and paste within Thunderbird; whatever is copied from Thunderbird onto the clipboard won't paste back into Thunderbird. A workaround is to paste to another text editor, then copy and paste back from that.
But in general, other users do copy and paste from other programs (notably Word, for better or worse) into Thunderbird, so I can't concede that copy and paste is totally broken. Indeed, I have just copied your text above and have successfully pasted it into a new Thunderbird message using:
ctrl+v right-click|paste Edit|Paste on the menu
So, how can I reproduce your problem?
Thanks for the answer. I have now upated my Thunderbird and checked the html and the text comes all ok, but the picture is not. I'll try to move back and forth from Word. I'll try that. But I would like to know why this is so difficult!!?
Thanks halling51
The most difficult thing is people apparently think word is a good place to compose mail. Information pasted from this program that is designed for putting words on paper contains thousands of lines of XML and binary data objects that mean nothing to any program but those in the Microsoft office family of programs. So when you paste a picture from word your generally not doing that at all. Your pasting a word document fragment that contains an image.
Pasting text is best done using Ctrl+Shift + V (Paste without formatting.) Thunderbird has a filter for want of a better word that removes or strips unsafe information. Things like scripting, you will sometim see it refered to as sanitized HTML. As Zenos points out this can affect email to email paste as well as external to Thunderbird paste. This while it may be occasionally frustrating is for you and your contacts safety. Not just to make life difficult.
Hei Using the riht click and copy - nothing Using Ctr+C - nothing
Then rightclick from a program and try to right click and paste into Thunderbird is this options scrambled and can't be used?????
Why is is that the only program having this difficulties is Thunderbird?
I don't see why this option is not worked in to the mailprogram. If I can't solve this option easy and very soon I'll quit the Thunderbird as it is NO use for me. aLL OTHER PROGRAMS HAS THIS OPTION!!
That makes little or no sense to me. What does scrambled mean? What program? What is on the clipboard your pasting from is put there by the copying program. If it is rubbish best find out why the copying program is copying rubbish.
If that coping program is Thunderbird then say so.

Scramble out means that the menue is gray and can be used when you try to past into the Thunderbird and a mail! I try to cut and past from another program that is ok in Eudora. But to cut and past from the same program into Thunderbird does not work. It is nothing to wonder about which program as this works fine elsewhere. I have never used the clipboard as I make a jpg file of what I want to paste to the mail! Maybe it is rubish to you! But when you use the mouse and mark a text or copy a picture it should be easy to do the same when you want to past it into Thunderbird it should work from the same soure and into TB. This works to any software! So tell me why Thunderbird does not do the same??? Steinar NORWAY
Item One. Eudora has bean dead for years. Please it is not a references for anything other than emails that are no longer RFC compliant.
Item Two Every copy and paste used the clipboard. No exceptions. None. You use Windows copy and paste you use the clipboard.
Item Three Information on the clipboard can be there in multiple formats. Some programs will place information in as many as five formats. Word in my experience for example will place information as a word format, RTF, HTML,Text and an image, usually in WMF.
Now your saying the menu is grey. That means there is no data on the clipboard that Thunderbird can paste. perhaps you need to install something like this http://www.freeclipboardviewer.com/
That will allow you to view what data is on the clipboard and in what formats, that way you might be able to work out why your data is not available for pasting.
