How do I restore allover blocking of Flash as unsafe? I liked that behavior in Firefox. Unfortunately, I mistakenly clicked "Allow and Remember" on ONE site (my workplace site), thinking it would only apply to this particular site.

Now Flash is allowed on ALL sites I visit. I know I can disable the plugin site-by-site, but I would like to restore the previous option of having it blocked as unsafe by default on all new sites unless I agree to run it.

It looks like by clicking the Remember button once, I removed Flash from the suspicious plugins group and can't find any option to put it back on on the no-fly list :(

Allow and Remember should only apply to one site. But...

Since Adobe issued an update yesterday and the new version is not blocked, your Firefox might have gone back to automatic activation with version 18.0.0.209.

If you want to keep using click-to-play, you can switch it on the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Plugins. Look for "Shockwave Flash" and change "Always Activate" to "Ask to Activate".

Then you can test it out other sites that use Flash, such as Adobe's test page:

https://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/

If you ever need to revoke a permission for a site, you can use the Permissions panel of the Page Info dialog. While on the site, you can call that up using any of these:

  • right-click and choose View Page Info > Permissions
  • (menu bar) Tools menu > Page Info > Permissions
  • click the padlock or globe icon to the left of the site address > More Information > Permissions

The first section should list your plugins. Here, it is called Adobe Flash.

Does that get you back to where you want to be?

So that's what happened! Thank you, that solves it.
