A new pop up box is asking me for a password when I open Thunderbird and it never has before.
When I use the password for my ISP account, it doesn't work, and when I go to the ISP website to sign in and get mail, it works fine.
I have called tech support and all my mail settings are correct. I have been with this company for a long time and never had this happen before, so not sure what to do. No mail will load on my computer when I open Thunderbird now, I have to go to the ISP website to view email.
Help appreciated! Thank you.

To diagnose problems with Thunderbird, try the following:
- Restart the operating system in safe mode with Networking. This loads only the very basics needed to start your computer while enabling an Internet connection. Click on your operating system for instructions on how to start in safe mode: Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, OSX
- If safe mode for the operating system fixes the issue, there's other software in your computer that's causing problems. Possibilities include but not limited to: AV scanning, virus/malware, background downloads such as program updates.
I followed the instructions, but it is still asking me for the password. I just upgraded to Windows 7, does that make a difference? If was working when I came home and hooked everything up though, for a couple of days, then it started this....what do you suggest now? I find it odd that my sign on and password works when I go to the ISP website to get my mail, but when I enter the same password in Thunderbird it doesn't work...?

I don't! I consider if very very normal.
The similarity between web mail and a mail client ends with the username and password. while both do mail none of the protocols, transports ports are the same. Nor for that matter does your web mail have your anti virus interfering with your mail. It thinks your on a web page.
So if safe mode for the operating system did not work. Please look in the Error console (Ctrl+Shift+J) for error messages regarding Diffie-Hellman
