I have three accounts on Thunderbird: my University of Guelph account (mkeeefer@uoguelph.ca), my regular gmail account (mhkeefer@gmail.com), and a second gmail account (letonneliermedia@gmail.com). The third of these accounts is effectively dormant and unused. Yesterday, Thunderbird suddenly began demanding the password for that third account. Since I was busy and didn't want to have to look up that password, I ignored these demands--because I found I was able to continue receiving and sending messages on my two active accounts. (This seems to have been a stupid mistake.) Yesterday evening, Thunderbird began repeatedly demanding the password for my regular gmail account. I supplied the password, but the request was renewed at short intervals. This-morning Thunderbird asked again for the password for my unused account. I supplied the correct password. Then it began demanding my other gmail password. Each time I supply the password, there is a delay of about a minute, following which I am told that my login has failed, and then that the server has been disconnected. In the mean time, I am not receiving any email messages. (Given that fact, I don't know how you can possibly help....)

At the top right of the Thunderbird window, click the menu button > Options > Account Settings > Server Settings.

Change 'Authentication method' to 'OAuth2'. Do the same for the 'Outgoing Server (SMTP)' at the bottom of the left panel.
