In Control Panel, I have: Mozilla Thunderbird 31.6.0 (x86 en-US) and Mozilla Thunderbird 38.5.0 (x86 en-US) Both are 79.9MB. Why do I have two, should I remove one? In Task Manage only one is shown running.

I suggest you get one of the list cleaners that clears out the rubbish in that list. My guess is removing either will just remove Thunderbird. See https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/2008.08.utilityspotlight.aspx
