I use Firefox to go everywhere on the net. My e-mail program is Yahoo. I have been trying to e-mail some friends at both the 163.com and mail.ua websites. I have been able to get nothing, even though my friends say they have sent messages. Not even using a Centurylink account has worked to get their messages.

I would suggest trying Microsoft edge browser or chrome to see if it is truly the browser or if it is your email provider. Try searching through spam or any other filter your email provider might use. I don't know a lot about Firefox but I don't think that would be an issue with the program rather it would be an issue with the email provider.
