I am trying to find out the difference between the two v51.0.1 builds of Firefox 6233 and 6234

I am trying to find out the difference between the two recent build of Firefox v51.0.1 v51.0.1.6233 and v51.0.1.6234 that were recently released...

I'm curious as to why there was a 2nd version of FF v51.0.1 released as the Release notes don't say what was changed... https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/51.0.1/releasenotes/

hello, could you please go to the firefox menu ≡ > help ? > troubleshooting information, and copy the two different(?) build ids you see there into a reply here on the forum...

Installed Firefox v51.0.1 Build ID 20170125094131 I don't have the build ID for the old/original build of Firefox v51.0.1

ok I got it I downloaded an archive copy of the release candidate build #2 Firefox v51.0.1.6233 which matches the build version of the orignal v51.0.1 release. Build ID 20170124203848

ok, it looks like v51.0.1.6233 was a (never publicly released) release candidate build, whereas v51.0.1.6234 is the real 51.0.1 that mozilla provided to its users...

ahhh.. but that doesn't explain why :( I got 6233 from the release folder https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/51.0.1/win64/en-US/

But what changes were made between 6233 and 6234, that Mozilla felt the need to skip the release of build 6233 even though they already produced all the files..? like a link to the changelog/commit log maybe

if you can find that out for me that would be great. :)

Thx for info.. thankfully it the websense bug/crashing does not affect me since I do not use it.

I guess this support ticket can be closed now. Thx for help. :)

yes, if you can get firefox 51 to open up, then you're not affected :-)

on a side note... I installed build 6233 from an installer/upgrade and when build 6234 was released to the update feature it failed to upgrade for some reason... I had to manually download the new 51.0.1 build 3 from the ftp server....

could you let someone know a dev perhaps so someone can investigate it, so in the future so this doesn't happen again?

my guess is FF didn't like trying to patch 51.0.1.6234 over an already installed 51.0.1.6233 because it was already 51.0.1 it didn't know what to do I guess...

Only the Testers and QA and automated tests use the Release Candidate builds of a version as regular users use the Release.

I always stick with Release build for my main installs on my Laptop and desktop PCs both Win7 Ultimate x64.

I only grab the rc builds if I need to test and for the debugging symbols for the release builds
