I have posted a question about the same error. As a temporary patch you can use 'Get Selected Messages' from context menu or use File -> Offline -> Get Selected Messages.

At least it worked in my configuration.

It's a bug introduced in TB 52.1, so use TB 52.0.1 for now: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1361020
