I inadvertently moved a folder to an unknown location within Firefox bookmarks. I am able to confirm that the link is still there by doing a search. I cannot figure out how to find out which folder the link is now.

I wish I could tell you there was an elegant way to do this, but actually, the most convenient way is:

  • open the bookmarked page, and a blue star should appear on the toolbar
  • click the blue star to open the Edit Bookmark panel
    • next to "Folder" is the name of the current folder
    • to see where the folder appears in the folder hierarchy, click the little button to the right of that ("v") to expand the folder tree and scroll down until you find the highlighted folder

Note that the System Details list next to the question shows that you run an older Firefox 53.0.2 version that is no longer supported with security updates. Always update Firefox and Add-ons to the latest versions to get all security fixes.

Please update to the current Firefox 54.0.1 release.
