I AM TRYING TO DO SOMETHING BUT I CANNOT UNDERSTAND THE COMPUTER REFERENCES
IF U DONT UPDATE FIREFOX, EVENTUALLY IT MAKES ITSELF IMPOSSIBLE TO USE UNTIL U UPDATE LIKE GOOD LITTLE BOYS AND GIRLS THE ONLY PROBLEM WITH THAT IS THAT FIREFOX DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THE CRUSHING BLOW IT LANDS ON THE HEADS OF THOUSANDS OF FAITHFUL AND LOYAL FIREFOX USERS. THIS BEING SAID, IN ORDER TO PUT MY QUESTION IN CONTEXT, IS AS FOLLOWS: FAST DIAL AND QUICKFOX NOTES ARE MY LIFE; UNFORTUNATELY, FIREFOX IS THE ONLY BROWSER THAT I WANT TO USE. SO I AM STUCK WITH HAVING A BROWSER THAT RIPS AWAY THE VERY FOUNDATION OF MY LIFE ON MY COMPUTER. FAST DIAL IS REPLACEABLE; I DONT LIKE ALL THE OTHER 'FAST DIAL WANNABEES' BUT THEY ARE ADEQUATE. QUICKFOX NOTES IS ANOTHER MATTER ENTIRELY: NOT ONE OF THE HUNDREDS OF 'NOTES' [AND IT SEEMS I HAVE TRIED EVERY ONE] THAT ALL SHOUT ABOUT THEIR GREAT FEATURES AND EASE OF USE, [NOT ONE] COME ANYWHERE CLOSE TO SERVING AS AN ADEQUATE REPLACEMENT FOR QUICKFOX NOTES [EXCEPT ONE]. SO WE COME TO MY WOE, BECAUSE THE ONLY REPLACEMENT I WANT FOR QUICKFOX IS "OPENOTE"!!! NO, I DID NOT SAY ONENOTE" AND THERES THE RUB. I HAVE SPENT HOURS SEARCHING AND GOING AROUND IN CIRCLES TRYING TO FIND OPENOTE THE SECOND TIME. I HAD IT BUT I LOST IT AND I DO NOT UNDERSTAND ENUF COMPUTER TALK IN ORDER TO FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS TO GET IT BACK FROM MY COMPUTER WHERE IT HAS HIDDEN IT FROM ME. PLEASE HELP. AND THANK U VERY MUCH FOR READING MY TALE OF WOE.

I know how you feel. I stopped updating Firefox at v54 because I would have lost many valuable and important add-ons.
Here are your choices; 1) Contact its support and ask if they will update 2) Find a replacement 3) Downgrade to a prior Firefox 4) Do without
Hi epiphany247,
'Been searching for the add-on 'Openote' that you mention (no, not 'OneNote') - it's not on Mozilla's Add-ons page .....
But then I noticed in your system details that you have this add-on installed :
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/quickfox-notes/
and when I scrolled down under 'About this extension' ....... I found this under 'Browser independent extension ':
http://openote-ii.sourceforge.net/wordpress/
Could that be it ?
tyvm happy; im sure that is it; but when i found it, i went about the stupid business of follwing the directions best i could and by complete surprise i managed to get it. But happy, i have absolutely no clue how i did it; and im not kidding. so, although i do see that it says openote and i did put it there accidentally but deliberately, i have no idea what to do with ur fantastic and so appreciated answer. what happened after i got it on my computer, LG did an update and when it came back on my openote was gone from being pinned on my taskbar; but i also had it on my desktop but when i clicked on it, my woes began and i have been at this for hours and hours and i am the tiredest peep ....... the following are the error messages i got when i right clicked and went in openote Properties; which of course i am clueless aaarrrggghhh tytyty happy and if u can go from here and help me understand how i can obtain openote permanently, that is the goal that i have to get done before firefox gets any worse [bad firefox]

Dear epiphany247, just a stab in the dark, but if that 'Openote' can't be found on your system (Windows Control Panel) - maybe you could download it again from here :
https://sourceforge.net/projects/openote-ii/files/
Unless somebody else has a better idea .......
hi happy, tyvm for getting back to me again; i have not been able to get back til now due to health stuff.
so i read and did what u said but the only thing i accomplished was signing up for sourceforge subscription :(
when u said to use that link in ur answer to download it again from here; did u expect me to know what to do from there? im afraid that i dont; when i click on openote in my files, it opens a folder with several things there but i have no clue which one of them i would do what with :(

I'm going to be quite honest with you (always the best policy, right ?) :
All of this is way over my head and I'm not going to give you anymore 'advice' that might get you into even more trouble. I'm sure that a fellow contributor, with better working braincells than mine, will come to your rescue - so just hang in there, okay ?
Hi epiphany247, the download is a ZIP archive. You should extract it to its own folder (Openote folder) then inside is the openote.exe program file.
The program doesn't appear to have been updated for over 5 years, and uses some old Mozilla technology (XULRunner from 2012) that might not be working any more. I guess you'll find out!
I think the most important issue is to make sure your notes saved in Firefox (in bookmarks, a database, or in individual text files in your profile folder) can be read by whatever new note-taking application you end up using. I didn't see a "how to" for extracting your data on the extension's support page, but there are some hints.
