Windows Defender is an anti-virus, Firefox is a web browser. You need to keep an updated and active anti-virus, and an updated Browser to keep your system secure.

I'd suggest the following:

  • Keep windows up to date, always install updates ASAP. You should install the 1803 update, and any updates after that.
  • Run Windows defender, and allow it to update and automatically scan
  • Install Malwarebytes (www.malwarebytes.org), and just use the free version to scan once a month.
  • Keep Firefox up to date
  • Install Ublock Origin, https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/ublock-origin/
