I used to chat using my Google Hangouts account in Thunderbird all the time. Now it won't work. I know the email address and password are correct but it keeps saying "Error: Not authorized (Did you enter the wrong password?). Again, I know the password I'm specifying is right. Why doesn't it work anymore?

Thanks for the reply, Matt. I don't use chat that often in TB but I had no idea they had retired it. Pity. Do you know if there are any Hangouts plug-ins for TB?

I do not think so.

There is a library for Pidgin and lib purple (lib purple is what Thunderbird chat is built on. But it looks to me to be somewhat complicated to set up and the instructions are for pidgin not Thunderbird. https://bitbucket.org/EionRobb/purple-hangouts

I have no knowledge of it, but it look promising.
