I opened the "Customize" window in Thunderbird to drag the "Delete" onto my tool bar. However, I don't know where it went. Then I Googled and read where you can right click on the "Delete" button that is on the messages, open customize drag it in there and then to the toolbar. That didn't work either. So now I no longer have a "Delete" button on my emails.

I clicked on "Restore default set" in the Customize box but that didn't bring it back.

Can someone please tell me how to get my delete option back?

You right click the Mail toolbar and select customize. Find the Delete button and drag it to the Mail toolbar. You cannot right click any other button and drag it anywhere. Any post that says you can is mistaken. There is a delete button on the header bar of the message pane if you have it turned on. Pressing F8 toggles the message pane on and off. You can right click a message header and select Delete. The Delete key on your keyboard works just fine also.

I no longer have the delete button on my message header. It's gone. And it's gone from the Customize window.

Surely there has to be some way to get this back. I find it very inconvenient and clumsy to have to use the delete on my keyboard.

Post a screenshot of what you are talking about.

Screenshot will show that there is no longer a "Delete" option in my emails.

Screenshot will show that whereas I used to have the word "Delete" in the tool bar, now there is just the trash symbol over on the far right, which is ok.

I don't know what happened but when I sat down last evening, booted my computer and opened my email, it opened as though there were no account. I have posted about that but haven't received any answers. I lost all my extensions, all my address book, everything. No one uses this computer but me and it was fine when I turned it off the night before.

The Delete button is a default button for the Message Pane header. Clicking Restore Defaults should bring it back.

It is not a default button for the Mail Toolbar so clicking Restore Defaults will remove it.

It sounds like you have other issues so first I would go read about restoring a lost profile that is linked to in your other question. Then try starting Thunderbird in Safe Mode since it appears you are using a custom theme.

On my laptop, I am attaching a screenshot of what the header looks like. This is what it looked like on my desktop previously. Any way to get that back? By the way, I can not find the Restore Defaults now. I thought it appeared in the "Customize" window when I opened it, but it's not there now. Am I looking in the wrong place?

BTW, why is it that things like my Quick Folders extension, and the Tag option in Thunderbird are not matching between the two computers? Same account, email address. They used to match.

do the customize on the main toolbar if you want to modify it.

EACH toolbar is customized separately. You can not customize the mail toolbar with right clicking the main toolbar or vise versa.

I don't follow what you mean here. And what about the fact that my Restore Defaults is missing when I click on Customize?

I would suggest in the first instance reverting to the default theme. Often themes are missing bits that no one uses much. This button might be one of them, not that I am familiar with an addon or theme that sets up comic sans as the user interface font.

Next restart will all add-ons disabled from the help menu. Again add-ons can have some weird effects. Especially so if you are forcing old unsupported add-ons to run by e4diting the underlying XPI file or changing Thunderbird hidden preferences to allow them to install.

i switched back to the default theme. As far as the font Comic Sans, I changed that myself because I find it more clear to see for me.

This did not make any difference. The "Restore Defaults" button still does not exist.

I have just restarted with add ons disabled, but you didn't indicate what I'm supposed to do after that? I'm going to restart the add ons one-by-one as I don't know what other step to do next.

The "Delete" came back in the customize window and I moved it up to the menu bar. But after enabling my extensions it's now longer there. Also, I can't get my Theme and Font Size Changer to open and work. Do you have any idea why that would be? It was working fine before I disabled the add ons.

You were restoring your add-ons one at a time. So when did it disappear? After which one was re enabled?

To be honest, I didn't check that.
