When composing a message I use the contacts sidebar. Formerly that sidebar showed all of my several address books. Now it only shows the default address book. Why?

You should be able to click the chevron beside 'gmail contacts from...' to select an address book. But the Category filter box must be provided by an add-on, perhaps Category Manager. Disable the add-on, or Help/Restart with Add-ons Disabled to test. There is a CategoryManager add-on for 78.

I managed to get the address book names into the bcc area
by using CardBook which allowed me to select the desired
address book. After highlighting all addresses that I wanted

I then selected "Write a new message (blind copy)".
