Outgoing email character encoding
Hello team, In our Greek company (ATTIKO METRO SA) we use for many years mozilla thunderbird as the default email client in windows PC Systems. We have applied the option of sending email with character encoding Greek (ISO-8859-7) and also the same encoding as default encoding for Incoming emails (if not defined at message header). (see attached image) In config editor these options are "mailnews.send_default_charset" and "mailnews.view_default_charset". After last update (91.2) this option disappeared and now the character encoding for outgoing and incoming is UTF-8 and cannot change it. It is very critical for us to have this option again because all our emails have to be encoded in ISO-8859-7 according to our installations and policies.
Thank you in advance!

Download Charset Menu addon Install it Restart Thunderbird Go to View of main menu Choose Text Encoding (Then the one you want from the drop down menu) Καλή επιτυχία.

Lampros (Λάμπρο) thanx for the quick reply but this does not solve my problem. It only solves the view of an incoming message and not the way a message is encoded when you send it. This is my main problem. The "Text encoding" option as shown at the attached image (version 78 and earlier) that has been disappeared in version 91.
If someone find something please inform me.
Thank you!
Goto config editor (in general tab). Show all insert mailnews.send_default_charset and press enter Add this key choosing a string The string should be ISO-8859-7
If this does not work delete the key you created

Hello again! I tried this but nothing changed. Despite the fact that i created this option in config editor it send with UTF-8 encoding. Did you try it?
Thank you!
First of all I use TB 91.3.0 on a laptop. I don't have an problem with Greek characters encoding ( send or receive). If you use TB on a network, in my opinion only the EDP admin can change this option. The best solution is to have installed TB version 78.14.0 or prior. The latest version of TB 91 is still on development ( it reached version 91.3.0). Wait for the final version 92. Call ... for help.
edited phone# from public and search/spam bots view.

I also changed the 3 options in config editor.
dom.script_loader.external_scripts.utf8_parsing.enabled false dom.worker.script_loader.utf8_parsing.enabled false mail.server.default.allow_utf8_accept false Restarted TB From View of main menu => Text encoding ISO-8859-7 Restared TB There was no problem with the Greek characters encoding (send+receive).

I want this when sending mail: Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-7; format=flowed. I became more specific because I realized that you didn't exactly understand the problem.
Thank you again for your help!
Δεν μπόρεσα να βρώ κάτι άλλο. Δυστυχώς η έκδοση 91.χ.χ. υποστηρίζει μόνο UTF-8.
