will Thunderbird use different IMAP servers for Outlook with Outlook.com changing TLS?
I received this message today:
Our records show that your email account has recently been accessed with POP3/IMAP4 through TLS 1.0 or 1.1.
POP3 and IMAP4 will not be able to connect with TLS 1.0 and 1.1 starting on December 01, 2022. You will not be able to receive emails with POP3/IMAP4 protocol after that. To continue accessing your email account using POP3 or IMAP4, please upgrade/update your client to support TLS 1.2. Your emails will not be removed, but you cannot access them without upgrading your client. You can find out technical details on how to upgrade in this article: D[https://click.email2.office.com/?qs=a96373608cd3245ff5b5fab4ae4a22a6a5211a5b5e047ff1ead7de9fbf48569de9edcdfdfb9cc70565f6e1d09fbba8e15df2be6ea10ff4a7 isabling TLS 1.0 and 1.1 for Microsoft 365 - Microsoft Purview (compliance) | Microsoft Docs ]
It said if I cannot upgrade, to use legacy server addresses, which were provided.

Thunderbird V102 supports TLS up to V1.3, the current release. It has for a number of years disallowed TLS V1 and 1.1 unless you actually modify hidden preferences to allow it's use.
So the question becomes what else are you using that is forcing a TLS downgrade? Or are you using very old Thunderbird software? Pre Version 78 where these old versions of TLS were disabled. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/thunderbird-78-faq
i have the latest version of Thunderbird. However, I am trying to figure out if the server address is different. I just updated Thunderbird today after reading your post. I do not know if that solves the problem. The paragraph from the e-mail (and the e-mail overall) basically states that the server address might be different and incompatible when Microsoft updates Outlook.com. They would allow POP and IMAP servers through a server they call Exchange. I assume that is the Office 365 server. That link that I provided does not make sense to me except that it is a different form of security. Microsoft tells me to contact Thunderbird support since they do not use Thunderbird or create it basically. There might be another employee from them that would say "we have a different server," but I wonder if you might be able to tell me if there is a different address now that is used through Thunderbird besides the previously provided servers. I can ask through Twitter by rephrasing the question.
So, i have not received any follow up here. I have updated thunderbird, and microsoft says they will use the same server address at this time. I do not know if there is other information that I need to know. I had received an e-mail that was probably since i was using POP e-mail and IMAP in relation to the previous version of Thunderbird.
