Thunderbird
Hi, I have Thunderbird running on old pc (Windows 10) with a few years of emails I need to be able to access.
I have a new Windows 11 and want to download these emails from the server onto my pc.
I follow article https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1282954, but my new PC doesn't have the option "Account Settings > Synchronization & Storage" (it does on the old) instead it has 'Disk Space' in the same place in the option list.
Waht am I missing?
If not, how do I transfer the mail file from the old pc to the new pc (maintaing the folder structure etc...
Regards

That is because you set up the account on new PC as POP. if you delete the POP account and reinstall as IMAP, you will be able to do as that link indicates. BUT, if your desire is to download permanently to PC to keep, then you would need to then create Local Folders folders and copy the messages to the local folders folder to keep. My inference is that you may not want to keep the old account and you emphasized downloading to your PC.

Hi David, thanks for your reply.
I deleted everything and re-installed with a new IMAP profile: it appears to have downloaded my email database as required (I have put the pc offline and can still see the emails).
I mistakenly thought I needed to use POP3 to dowload to my pc rather than keep them on the server (which is about to close).
