Search results do not display
Firefox Version 129.0.1 64 bit Windows 11. When I am in a New Tab, and I do a search (Google is my search engine) the results do not display. I type in search words, I hit Enter, and the screen does a very quick blip, and then nothing. This is very frustrating. I have wasted too much time trying to figure it out. It does not do it all the time, but most of the time. This started with the latest Firefox update. Is this a Settings issue?

Hi There,
I had been having what sounds like the exact same issue on the same version of Firefox as you on a windows 10, 64 bit laptop. Couldn't understand why this started happening. I did find that if you open an In Private window Google search worked as normal so could be a work around for you. I think I've cured my issue by resetting Firefox which was fairly straight forward and things since have been back to normal since, well fingers crossed. No idea what the problem was though. Still left with an error notification appearing on my Gmail accounts, yellow banner at the top of the page "the system couldn't load Error #001". This started around the same time as the Google search issue started. Will seem what happens with that but it seems to rectify itself after a short time.
Thank you, so it's not just me. I also have had that problem with Gmail that you mentioned, at the same time. I did the Firefox restore this morning, and I am still having the problem. I forgot to mention it also does not open a new tab and show the results, when I click on a link in a email.
Do either of you use Avast anti-virus?
When this happens, can someone please take a look at the Browser Console and see if there are any errors/warnings and post them here in an attachment?
You can access the Browser Console via the three-bar menu -> More Tools -> Browser Console.
We have identified a similar sounding issue as being reported by users of Avast and it having been reported in their forums.
Approximately two days ago, Avast issued a hot fix which has apparently resolved the issue. Your Avast installation may have already been updated, but you can always check for updates to it.
Hopefully this will have resolved your issue, but please post again if there are still problems after updating Avast.
