When trying to send an email from a link in Firefox, it defaults to GMail, which is not the default email set on Firefox or the computer

Windows Outlook Express in the default email program on the computer. When looking to send an email from a link within Firefox, it looks to send it using my GMail account, not the default program. Outlook Express is is the default in Firefox. All other options have been deleted from the selection, yet it still goes to GMail. Any ideas?
