Did you set the download action for the PDF files to Firefox ?

You need to remove that setting and set it to the Adobe Reader plugin or an external program that can handle PDF files.

I'm using Firefox as downloaded. I never set "download action" to Firefox or anything else. I wouldn't know how. I even deleted Firefox and downloaded it again and it does the same thing.

I didn't see the blue note "See Firefox keeps opening many tabs or windows" . After I saw that I followed those instructions and the problem was fixed.

Having same prob not being able to download some pdfs and some docs - both showing as .part files. Tried fixes in 'Firefox keeps opening many tabs or windows' but didn't work. There were no downloads recorded in my ff download file (altho they show up in my mac download file) and 'mimeTypes.rdf' doesn't exist in my profile directory. These same files are downloadable in Google Chrome and Safari.

Hi all. Having similar issues but not as troubling as it has been for some posters here. Just wondered what these files are and should I be concerned?

They appeared in the downloads section on the dock after I downloaded some pdfs (Mac OSX 10.6.6). I could not remove them. They were not visible in Finder nor when I used Terminal. They disappeared when I accidentally removed the download folder from the dock.
