I no longer get a dialog box when bookmarking a page. I am unable to title and save the bookmark in the folder of my choice. Where has the dialog box gone please.
Whenever I have bookmarked a page, I got a dialog box where I could give the bookmark a title and choose the folder to save it in. Now when I click 'Bookmark this page, no box appears. The page is still saved in bookmarks but then I have to go into Organize bookmarks to put it where I want it. This is time I have not had to spend doing so in the past. I would like to know what has happened to the dialog box, why has it stopped appearing as normal? I really would like it back.

Same issue with me. Everything was fine yesterday with bookmarks.
Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
- Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
See
- Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems
- Troubleshoot issues with plugins like Flash or Java to fix common Firefox problems
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
- Use "Disable all add-ons" on the Safe mode start window to disable all extensions.
- Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
That brought the dialog box back thank you. Can you tell me how to enable my add-on's please?
Sorted cor-el, I found how to enable the add-on's again. Thank you for sorting my problem.
Thanks, safe-mode worked. I'll tinker when I get out of work and see if it is one of the add-ons (using the original theme, so can't be that)
Thank you,
It was Mcafee SiteAdvisor 3.3 of all things that caused the problem. Can anyone suggest a better/equivalent type of extension I could use?
Thanks,
How about using the SafeBrowsing feature that is built into Firefox?
My problem was a little different. I completely uninstalled Firefox and re-installed it. There were no addons or extensions of any kind. I still had the problem -- I still didn't see the dialog box. However, I noticed that if I moused over the location where the dialog box SHOULD be, the dialog flashes very briefly into view.
I found a solution to the problem. My laptop has two video modes integrated (Intel) and using the separate "high performance" NVIDIA graphics card. By switching the Firefox shortcut to use the NVIDIA card I no longer have the problem.
I would assume that this is a software bug in the Intel drivers. However, I haven't had a problem with any other application. Maybe something Mozilla is doing is adding to the problem.
In any event, I may be happier using the NVIDIA card anyway. It just may use a little more battery.
