I've recently decided to use Firefox instead of IE9 so I'm new to it's way of operating. I've noticed that whenever I use it for the first time in a session I receive a Norton alert to the effect that 'updater.exe' has been downloaded and that it is safe and trusted &c..

Is this normal? Is this Firefox checking for updates and applying them? All malware/virus checks have been negative.

Thankyou for your reply, but with respect this is not the same problem. The download is updater.exe (the terminal 'r' is the distinction) and is a file associated with Mozilla not Norton (or Symantec). The alert is from my anti-virus, that's the only connection to Norton.
