Why are some History entries viewable ONLY through the Search History option?
When I select History-all entries for Yesterday (4/10/13) I see one list. While I am still in the Yesterday (4/10/13) mode and Search History for Gamestop I get a separate list. However, the information on the Gamestop list does not appear on the see all History list for Yesterday. Why?
Unrelated to the above, is there any way to determine the time a website was visited?

Another possible explanation for previous entries no longer appearing: history only displays your most recent visit to any specific URL. If you re-visit a site, then the entry is moved to the date/time of the latest visit (and the Visit Count is incremented). The data on earlier visits remains stored in the database, and there are ways to extract that information if necessary.

In that Library dialog, you can add columns to show additional information. Right-click (or Mac equivalent) on the headings bar above the history list (e.g., Name, Tags...) and choose the columns you would like to see.
Note that some of the columns (e.g., Added, Description, Last Modified) are only used by bookmarks and are always blank in history. That's normal.
I think if you add Visit Date, that will answer your question about the discrepancy with the search results because search checks all date.
Thanks for your response. I added the Visit Date column and the results did not resolve the issue of a 'particular website' only appearing when Select History is used.
Today, 4/12/13, a funny thing happened to the 'particular website' list. All the website entries for 4/10/13 were deleted. I made a copy of the 4/10/13 entries yesterday. How can one delete specific History entries?
In addition, the results show computer entries that were not entered by anyone in my household. Should I be concerned that someone is hacking my computer?
History entries can be deleted pretty easily using the Delete key or the right-click context menu.
As for unrecognized history, I'm not sure what to suggest. Are the visit dates during times no one needs the computer? You could try putting the computer to sleep or disconnecting when you don't need to be online and see whether the problem goes away.
Make sure that you do not run Firefox in (permanent) Private Browsing mode or visit sites in a New Private Window.
- Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history"
- Deselect: [ ] "Always use private browsing mode"
In case you are using "Clear history when Firefox closes":
- do not clear Browsing History
- Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history": [X] Clear history when Firefox closes > Settings
- https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Clear+Recent+History
Note that clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, and passwords.
Thanks for your reply. I checked my Privacy settings and I had selected 'Remember History' .
Have you ever had data removed from your History list? If so, did you find out who did it and how?
Eric
Thanks for your reply. The entry time was mid afternoon, no gamers in the house (my grandson was in school). Also, the History entries were not deleted by me, they just disappeared.
