There may have been a few respins lately on the Nightly update channel (I think I've seen a few of them) causing more than one update per day, so you will have to accept that if you want to use a Nightly build.
If you want to avoid too many updates then update manually when it is convenient or switch to the Aurora or Beta update channel.

There are four main development channels. Release, Beta, Aurora and Nightly. The Aurora and the most unstable channel Nightly get checkins almost everyday so there for they get a update each of those days. Sometimes a respin can happen the same day.

If you do not want to be a Tester then perhaps the Nighty channel is not for you.
