For 24 hours Firefox has been really slow to load. This is on my computer only - browsing on my ipad is fast and good. I tried the same on my computer with another browser and it is equally slow. I have tried all the suggestions including reinstalling Firefox but unfortunately the problem remains. Do you think it could be a hardware problem in which case any solutions? I have tried disk utility too a few times and all my other programmes are working as normal.

The most common reason for browser slow down is full cache memory. Hence please try to clean cache and restart browser back. Slow browser and slow browsing are two different things. So please be a little more specific if clearing cache don't help.

Cheers

Thanks. I have already done this. I find that if there are images on the page it makes it very slow and they take ages to load but if there are no images it is noticeably less slow. Any ideas.

You can reset user set (bold) network.http.* prefs on the about:config page via the right-click context menu to the default value.

Try to disable IPv6 (check for other possible causes as well):

Please can you explain it in plain English. This is too complicated to understand. The internet is still incredibly slow especially with a site with images on. I have done most things to try to correct it including reinstalling Firefox. My ipad internet is fine. thanks anyone!

I'm having the same problem. I've rebooted, I've reset, I've un-installed/reinstalled, and deleted my cache/cookies/history, but it's still very slow, and within the last month has crashed way too many times to count.

It takes forever to load FF and when it does, it's still very slow.
