I am using Firefox 29 on Mac OS 10.9.2, although this problem has happened on OS 10.8~ and various other versions of FF. I'm using 29 simply because I like it!

The problem: Firefox is set as the default browser in every way that it is possible to set it as the default. However, when I click a URL from any application and Firefox is closed, Firefox opens opens, the tabs from my last browsing session start up, but the link does not open. I have to go back to the app and click the link again. This only happens on Firefox. I can set any other browser as default and it will open the link from a closed state.

This is happening to me, as well, on Mac OS X 10.6.8, but only since I upgraded to the latest version of Firefox, 32.0.1. I can click an HTTP link in another application and Firefox will become the active application, but it will not load a new tab for the link, as expected. Instead, it just sits there. I have to go back to the other application and click the link a second time, at which point Firefox will correctly open a new tab and load the destination URL.

That should not happen. In the new Firefox 30 version for Mac OS this should not happen anymore. Update Firefox to the latest release

It's more or less fixed. It still happens, but not as often.

I can confirm that this also happens, though with much less frequency, on an iMac running OS X 10.9.4. It shares no data or settings with my home machine.
