After mozilla Firefox update, my screen is no longer visable unless I uncheck Mapsgalaxy under View and Tools or if I request full screen. I don't like this. How can I permanently uncheck mapsgalaxy? I have an XP computer.

I would be remiss if I didn't point out that Firefox 28 has some security flaws that have been publicly disclosed. For maximum security, you should upgrade to Firefox 29. I know some user interface changes have been controversial, but there are a variety of resources and of course this forum to assist with getting Firefox 29 to look and work the way you want.

Unless you find MapsGalaxy useful, you should be able to disable or remove it using the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a
  • orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions.

If there is no Remove button, that usually indicates it was installed externally and needs to be removed through the Windows Control Panel (Add/Remove Programs).

Actually, you might want to check the Control Panel anyway, in case something was installed that might keep pushing the extension back into Firefox.

Can you successfully get rid of it?

Edit: removed extra text pasted by accident.

I really won't know until I exit out of Mozilla and go back in. So, I will find out later. There wasn't any obvious way to save the disable command, so I will find out. But it seems reasonable that it might have worked. Thank you.
