you can first click on the bookmark star in the right side of the search bar, when the star turns blue you can once again click on it and edit it's name, tag and folder

Here's what I know about. Maybe someone else has a more direct route:

To save onto the Bookmarks Toolbar (instead of the Bookmarks menu), the easiest way is to click the "site identity button" -- usually either a padlock or globe to the left of the address in the address bar -- and drag it to the desired position on the Bookmarks Toolbar and drop it there.

To save it to the end of the Bookmarks menu, it's a two step operation:

(1) Call up Bookmark This page using either:

  • Ctrl+d
  • right-click the page (not a link, image, or form field) > Bookmark This Page

(2) Press Enter or click Done

Click on the favicon image on the left-corner of a tab, and drag that icon down onto the Bookmarks Toolbar.

I have problems using the "site identity button" since the "tabs on top" was instituted.

You can drag the tab or globe/padlock on the location bar to the Bookmarks Toolbar.
