Empty all messages from inbox
Comcast sent all messages (2,000) to inbox. I want to delete all of them without going message by message, or the "shift method". I want to push "delete all messages in selected mailbox.

You have to select messages in Thunderbird before you can do anything with them including delete. You can select one message and then do control+a to select all. Then hit a delete key.
