I noticed after switching from IE9 to Firefox that some website videos will not play. How is this corrected?
I sometimes want to look at how-to videos. Some play and some do not in Firefox. When a message does come up on the screen it says someting like 'sorry, but the video will not play...do you wish to download the plugin?'. Because I am very catious about what I download, I am not confident about downloading a plugin. Does anyone know what I need for Firefox to play all website videos? +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I am adding this to my original question: I see that quick-time is an available plugin...Is this soething that will work? ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Thank you

You need to install the Adobe Flash Plugin version for Firefox.
IE uses the ActiveX version of Flash which isn't compatible with Firefox. And the Google Chrome browser uses yet another version of Flash, code named Pepper.Flash is the only program that I have seen that requires a separate download and installation for different browsers. Patiently waiting until we don't need Flash any longer for viewing video presentations; the first few nails are already in the "coffin".
Just visit the Adobe Flash download page - http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ - using Firefox and Adobe will supply the correct version for Firefox.

Hi jn85710
To play website videos many sites (particularly older ones) require the Adobe Flash Player plugin to play video.
- Please try installing the adobe flash player plugin and let us know if that works
- Also please give us examples of websites that don't work without a plugin
Cheers! ...Roland
Hi,
Thank you for replying. Here is an example of a link that will not play:
play;_ylt=AwrSbgND8yRUwTIA_4tXNyoA;_ylu=X3oDMTB0cDBrYml1BHNlYwNzYwRjb2xvA2dxMQR2dGlkA1NNRTMzOV8x
I do have flash player 15.0 on my computer. But, Firefox does not apparently see it. Does it need to be added to Firefox? If so, what would be a good site to safely download the player?
thanks again,
jjn85710

I have tried this but to no avail. I currently have a Windows Vista 64 bit system. I really do not want to revert back to IE9 as I really do like the format and user friendliness of Firefox. But, unless there is a way to watch videos with my current system and using Firefox, then I will have no choice.
I will try again using your URL but I have tried this and it will not install Adobe Flash player where Firefox will recognize it. I will post my results.
Thank you for your reply.

Make sure that you don't download the 64-bit version of Plugin Flash. Firefox is a 32-bit browser and needs the 32-bit version of Flash.
Well, I cannot believe it. I carefully downloaded Flash 'for other browsers'. It installed as a plugin for Firefox and you were absolutely correct. It downloaded and installed the correct version for Firefox 32 bit.
Now, I have 2 versions of Flash..One with Active-X for IE and one for Firefox. You have solved my issue. I tested and could watch the same video using IE9 and Firefox 32.2.
Thank you so much..I can now sleep tonight :).
Thamk you again for your help..This may also help others who will have the same questions. The only thing I would recommend is that whoever installs either version of Flash Player....make sure you also want to install the added programs that are pre-checked. I did not want to do that, so, I unchecked them before the installation began.
You're welcome. Glad I was able to help you.
I tried to mark it as 'Solved' but an error happened as follows:
"An Error Occurred
Oh, no! It looks like an unexpected error occurred. We've already notified the site administrators. Please try again now, or in a few minutes."
I will try again later as I want it to be known that you resolved my issue.

What reply did you intend to mark as the solution?
There is currently already a reply marked as the solution, so you would first have to click the Undo button next to that reply (Solution chosen by the-edmeister) if you want to mark another reply as the solution.
I intended to mark to mark as solved:
Subject: I noticed after switching from IE9 to Firefox that some website videos will not play. How is this corrected?
Sorry for the inconvenience.
