How to fix "not responding" that happens periodically?
I can read one or two e-mails and then the "not responding" comes up and it may be 3 0r 4 min. before it starts again. Then sometimes when I open Mozilla it says "not responding".

What is your anti-virus software?
Try to start *Windows* in safe mode with networking enabled.

Still in Windows safe mode, start Thunderbird in safe mode.
