Update today made a mess of my Firefox, lost all bookmarks and when I try to log in to my account I get "You must be connected to the Internet to sign in." I am connected...when I selected "reset password" I never get the email link to reset it. Also have issue with previously accessible websites (a few minutes before installing the update) now having "security certificate" issues and being inaccessible.

Running Avast, updated after right after I searched and found the link you mentioned, which didn't solve the problem. I contacted the website owner and will see if it is their issue.

I'm more frustrated that I'm connected to the internet but when I try to login in to sync I get the no internet connection message

You can retrieve the certificate and check details like the issuer of the certificate and the certificate chain.

  • click "Advanced" to expand the error message
  • click "Add Exception" to open "Add Security Exception"

If this isn't possible then open "Add Security Exception" by pasting this URL in the location/address bar and paste the URL of the website (https://xxx.xxx) in it's location field.

  • chrome://pippki/content/exceptionDialog.xul

Let Firefox retrieve the certificate -> "Get Certificate"

  • click the "View" button and inspect the certificate

You can see details like the issuer of the certificate and used intermediate certificates in the Details tab.

Who is the issuer of the certificate?
