How save bookmarks so that I can correct system faults by re-installing windows 10 os ?
Last time I did a clean wipe, and followed all the export/import stuff and the ensuing json/html file debacle, I lost hundreds of my firefox bookmarks. I do not want any history, passwords, or anything else, just the bookmarks. How can I save them and have them ready for when I re-install Windows 10. Naturally Windows forces the user to go through their setup crap and it may be awhile before I've dumped most of their programs and re-establish firefox as my default browser. Thank You for any help.

If you have a backup of your current bookmarks, either an HTML backup or a JSON backup or a compressed .jsonlz4 backup automatically created by Firefox in the bookmarkbackups folder then restoring this backup should recover all bookmarks you had at the time you created this backup.
In case of problems with bookmarks the look at the Places Maintenance extension.

I do not have any backups. I was merely recounting an experience from an earlier year or 2. I want to save the bookmarks I have now.
Nothing here is helpful.
Did you create a backup?
- Bookmarks -> Show All Bookmarks -> Import & Backup
