TBird 17.0.8 Win 10 Firefox 58.0.2

After a reinstall of windows, the links in TBird messages take several minutes before Firefox opens or if already open, before it displays the link. I've tried all the suggestions in the topic about the links not working at all but this seems a different problem as the links work but after a delay.
