I deleted all mails on my phone and all mails in de the cloud are gone and therefore in Thunderbird as well. Lucky enough: daily backup on SD card. When I copy the Thunderbird folder back into the Roaming-folder , all my mails are back. But as soon as I go online, the cloud (empty !), overwrites my Thunderbird folders again and all mails are gone again. In the server-settings of Thunderbird, I blanked the synchro-settings, but no result. Anyone who can help me getting my back-up back in the cloud (gmail) ? Thanks for your help !!

TRy using this addon extension https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/importexporttools/

But this time import the emails into folders in 'Local Folders' mail account.

  • Create a folder in 'Local folders'
  • Right click on folder and use 'ImportExportTools' > 'Import mbox file'
  • Choose top option to import just the mbox file
  • Select second option to import the mbox file and subdirectories if the folder had subfolders.
  • click on OK

locate your backup imap mail account. select an mbox file (no extension) and click on OK

Make sure you are in online mode. When it is imported.

  • Right click on an email and use 'Copy to' and selct the imap mail folder.
  • click on 'Get Messages' to force a synchronise'

Does email stay in imap folder ? If yes, then check it is now on server via webmail account. If yes, then proceed to copy more emails to put back on server.
