Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit SP1 Thunderbird 52.8.0 32 bit POP3 Server is gmail

Messages disappear from Trash spontaneously

Server Settings/ "Empty trash on exit" is off Disk Space/ "Don't delete any messages" is on (for all accounts) Options/Advanced/Network & Disk Space has "Compact all folders when it will save over 80 MB" All folders Properties/Retention Policy "Don't delete any messages" is on

In the past, I have kept six months' messages in Trash, up to 2000 messages.

I occasionally discover old messages vanish from Trash. This morning, Trash's oldest message is from 5 June, except for an "important" and an unread message from 2016.

How do I stop this?

Perhaps your AV software. Or, do you have ccleaner installed?

Wayne, thanks for your response!

Antivirus not installed. CCleaner is installed, but not doing anything as far as I can tell in Task Scheduler. I just now uninstalled CCLeaner. Time will tell...
