With a newly reset Windows 10 on my laptop, firefox tells me it has been installed before. Well, no, but Ok.

Then, it fails to install with, "For some reason we cannot install firefox." Well, golly gee wilickers that's informative.

Click OK to try again. Doesn't try again, goes to a download area. Download file and run it, "Corrupt file!"

I've tried turning off the firewall, turning off smartscreen, updating windows, clearing all the caches. Nothin'.

Any suggestions before I go back to chrome and get some work done?

Boot into Safe Mode with F8 key and choose safe mode with networking and see if FF isn't already installed.

You can find the full version of the current Firefox release (61.0.1) in all languages and all operating systems here:

Yes, thank you. Those are the files that SmartScreen flags and if I run them anyway (both the 32 and 64 bit versions) I get a "File Corrupt - Extraction Failed" dialog.

That means the download was a failed download and you need to redownload again. Sounds like you got a over active security software causing the install issue.
