I'm not sure if I accidentally changed a setting or what, but I suddenly can't get sound to play on firefox (ONLY FIREFOX) not a hardware issue.

The videos will play fine, but without any sound. There isn't a speaker button appearing on the tab either. Sound bar has Firefox volume on max.

I restored to defaults; didn't fix the problem

Fixed it! don't really know how, but a full restart did the trick after running the windows sound troubleshooter to no perceivable change

The most common reason users report for sound problems involves Firefox sticking with a disconnected or disabled output device (for example, some headphones that were unplugged). I'm not sure if there is a way to discover that when it happens, or whether there is a simpler way to work around it.
