I like starting firefox with a blank page. Instead of a blank page I now get:

https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/67.0/whatsnew/?oldversion=66.0.5

I have tried closing the page (and firefox) and restarting, didnt fix it. I tried that multiple times. I tried reboot pc, didnt fix problem.

I get it, the update is new and sparkley and full of happy luck joy, but, I just want a blank page and I DO NOT want to read "https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/67.0/whatsnew/?oldversion=66.0.5" every time I start firefox.

How do I fix this?

"restore previous session" was checked so every time I closed out, it just remembered what i was doing and gave it back when I opened a browser window again (which is why that web address persisted through closings).

problem solved
