Inconsistently, Thunderbird forgets the sort order I had previously set by clicking on the Date column heading (latest email at the top) and launches with the date order reversed (latest email at the bottom). This has been happening for a few months now and I was hoping an update would fix it, but apparently not. What can I do to make my sort order stick?

Are you using ccleaner? it's know to cause exactly this sort of issue with it's removal of the session files the settings are stored in.

They "protect" you by deleting your settings, because they assume Firefox and Thunderbird are the same.
