Although it's not the best remedy for spam/junk, you could create a filter with From + ends with + <domain> and see if that helps.

I do understand the ramifications of blocking a whole domain. I would hope others will not use this without understanding the no one from that domain can email you as normal.

For testing I am setting the Filter to 'Move' the mail to my Junk Folder. Once I see it is working as expected, I may edit the Filter to simply Trash those emails.

Why is your filter not marking the messages as junk?

Folks complain that the junk filtering is not responsive, but they often fail with their filters to actually train the junk filter by marking their definition of spam as junk the filter filtering system can "learn".

HI Matt, this is very true. I have been 'teaching' the junk filtering system for 4 months.Nothing has changed. I always "mark as junk'. Is there anything else I should be doing?

I don't think you can enter the criteria as you have shown in your picture. See the attached picture for an example.

Everything I get from .xyz and .space domains is junk. I've trained my filters for years. Once I start tagging 10 messages a day as junk I create a new email address and close the old one. An email address typically lasts about 2 years before they manage to get my email into the main "junk" pipeline. To have a relatively secure email you can't use your name in the email address. johnyBgood@goodguy.com is to easy to guess. kuulduud@goodguy.com is much better. That reads as cool dude. I understand it's a hassled to change email address. I've done this twice and am preparing to do so again since Thunderbird is not willing to block domains. If you aren't willing to create a new email address and take the time to transfer your wanted contacts you'll have to live with Junk until someone makes a plugin to block domain names.

However, it would be far simpler to be able to block a domain names. Any legitimate user who sets up an account using the junk domains deserves to be blocked. If you are legit, use a .com or .org. All these new domain names that have been hijacked by scammers is the worst idea ICANN has ever had.

Hmm, what is wrong with from address ends with .space or contains ugltydomain.space. Whatever your pet hate domain is I think a filter can do it if you are a little creative.

I have had the same email address with hotmail since the last century. It gets very little spam. I also have some email addresses I have had with my ISP for almost as long. Not much in the way of spam their either. However I have had a very different experience with Yahoo. I think it was yahoo profiles and yahoo groups that opened the floodgates. Since they have no profiles and no groups worth talking about spam over the few years appears to be much less there than I used to be. But I have never closed or abandoned an email address because I spam. But I do not provide my email address to "coupons" sites, Competitions, especially the ones in malls and shopping centers. There sole purpose is to get sales leads. The sale of the "competition" entries is usually in the entry terms. My biggest issues are actually with political parties, charities and churches. So I just don't give them a valid email address ever.

I have multiple email address, one of which was created in 1999. I use different addresses for various things. Some to maintain privacy. Some to help protect my main email address. Possibly my main email becomes more targeted due to the fact it's attached to a domain name and website I own. Whatever the case, it's my email address. I should be able to block anything in anyway I choose from it.

I see it as similar to my home. If I want to lock the doors and not answer when someone knocks, that's my right. Anyone that comes to my front door doesn't know me and I will not answer. If they come to the back door, I'll look out the window to see who it is. I want to be able to set these junk domains which I have never gotten anything useful from as people I don't know who come to the front door and get ignored. I simply want a plugin that will allow me to input the domain and block it. End of story. If I do sign up at a website that uses what I consider a junk domain I can either decide they aren't someone I want to trust, or I can add them to an exception list.

Reading this thread got me thinking. This will not help most of you. If you own a domain name and pay for server hosting for a website you can probably create custom filters in your hosting control panel that will filter domain names. I have just created 2 such filters. In a few days I'll know if this works or not.

After 4 days I have no unwanted messages in my inbox. If you are paying for web hosting you may want to explore filters in your hosting account.

After all this time. blocking the "Spammer - Domain" has completely fixed my issue. I had the filter place all from those domains for couple of weeks. Checking periodically to see if anything good was gettng moved. I now have it move them directly to the trash! LOL Working perfectly!
