I just finished installing Ubuntu 20.04. When I started Firefox for the first time, it told me I was using an 'out of date' version and advised me to update. I clicked on OK to do the update and thought it strange when Firefox started that it didn't have my home page. I immediately went to check the settings (now Preferences) and saw that the Home page was gone. I suspected that something had been done with my Firefox settings and checked my Bookmarks only to find them all gone. I don't believe that Firefox development would be so crass / careless as to delete my Bookmarks in this fashion. How can I retrieve them ?

I'm very sorry about that. The first reply was a spammer. I've deactivated his forum account.

If you lost personal data then it is possible that a new default-release profile folder has been created. See "Determine if Firefox has created a new profile":

You can open the about:profiles page via the location bar to check whether multiple profiles are present and what profile Firefox currently is using.
